The Top 10 Reasons Parents Love the Capital Christian Homeschool Community

1. Every-Other-Week Community Days

The every-other-week schedule is one of the primary reasons people join Capital Christian Homeschool. CCH provides the course schedule, community connections, and accountability without the burnout factor of a weekly commitment.

2. Flexibility in Parent Participation

Whether you have a little extra time to lead learning times or just want to lend a helping hand, we’ve got a place for you! Parents are offered three ways to participate: facilitate, assist, or pay and drop (for high school). When parents take on the role of facilitators, they’re rewarded with periods off, discounts, and priority registration. And for those who want to contribute with minimal prep time outside of community days, assisting is a perfect way to participate.

3. Fantastic Facilitators

Our community is very blessed with amazing parents who love investing in kids. Many of our facilitators have professional teaching backgrounds, and all of our facilitators have experience directing learning times. CCH leadership offers training and support to our facilitators during the planning process and throughout the year.

4. Relevant Field Trips

While all types of field trips are fun, the field trips with CCH are designed to be purposeful and connected to the curriculum we use at home and during our community days. Facilitators plan field trips that build on what students are studying, adding richness to learning.

5. Medium-Size Community

There’s beauty in all sizes of homeschool communities, but for those looking for intimacy without the pitfalls of a small group, CCH, composed of around 50 families, can be a great fit.

6. Community Connections

As with any group, it takes time and energy to build friendships, but most families who join our community and regularly attend events find meaningful connections. Beyond our community days, our lunch times, park playdates, and field trips provide great opportunities to get to know other families.

7. Clear Communication

At CCH, we strive to communicate effectively with our members through our Signal groups. One Signal group is specifically for leadership announcements, monthly newsletters, and posting any absences. The other group is for community connections like shout-outs, event photos, and homeschooling questions. We do our best to keep everyone in the loop and feeling integrated into the community.

7. Growing Teen Leaders

CCH actively seeks to promote leadership among teens. They are assigned to setup and cleanup teams, where they help maintain our facilities. Additionally, teens take turns leading our lunchtime announcements and occasionally assist during learning times. We take great pride in watching our teens develop as leaders!

8. Coffee Station

At CCH, we recognize the importance of caffeine on community days! Parents are invited to visit the coffee bar before or between periods to grab a cup of Joe to go.

9. Defined Organizational Structure and Clear Decision-Making Process

Capital Christian Homeschool understands that a clear organizational structure and decision-making process is essential to the health of a homeschool community. For that reason, our community became a legal nonprofit that abides by specific bylaws. All decisions are made by a board of directors who care deeply for our members and value the input of those in our community.

10. Financial Transparency

At CCH, we believe in financial transparency. Our treasurers work with the leadership team to create a budget. They also meticulously monitor our incoming and outgoing finances, conducting thorough checks. At each leadership meeting, we hear a financial report, and we submit an annual report to the state. We are committed to handling our members’ financial contributions with care.
